1.About Cardinal #

What is Cardinal?

Cardinal is a web-based survey management solution that gets you off the phone and back to surveying. By using Cardinal, not only will you receive a professional survey management solution designed to fit your practice, it also provides your clients with a way to monitor job progress, receive and pay invoices, and access deliverables.

How to Use This Manual

This manual is split in to three sections: General Operations, Workflows, and Administrator Operations. The General Operations section covers all functions of Cardinal that a regular (non-administrator) user should be familiar with. The Workflows section provides a workflow-based guide to Cardinal that references back to the relevant parts of the General Operations potion of this manual. The workflows are designed to be used as a quick reference guides for quick reminders of how jobs flow through Cardinal. Finally, the Administrator Operations section covers the administrative functions of Cardinal that are not available to regular users. Typically, owners or principals will only have access to these functions and, thus, should be familiar with all three sections of this manual.

2.Cardinal Interface Overview #

Cardinal is composed of a main menu across the top of the page and provides quick access to many functions and tabs in Cardinal. This section will provide a brief description and example of the main menu so you can become familiar with all of Cardinal’s parts.

2.2.Cardinal Options #

Click the Options button to slide out the options panel. The options panel offers several functions useful for all users.

  • Update Contact Information
  • Change Password
  • Logout
  • Submit Feedback to Cardinal Developers (we really like feedback!)

2.3.Overview Tab #

The Overview tab is your at-a-glance page for all jobs that are waiting for you to complete a stage or are a job that you are assigned to manage. From this tab, you can view details about each job, view their location on the map, or mark your assigned job task started or complete.

2.4.Jobs Tab #

The Jobs tab lists all current jobs (default), completed jobs, and closed jobs. You can scroll through the list of jobs and click on a job to view the job details, or, you can Search Jobs by entering search terms.

If you wish to view completed jobs, click Show Completed. You can also view jobs that were closed without being completed (cancelled jobs, for instance), by clicking Show Closed.

2.5.Clients Tab #

The Clients tab lists all of your clients with some summary information about each client. Summary information shown is number of jobs in progress, projected value of in-progress jobs, number of jobs unpaid, balance owed, and contact information.

You can scroll through the list and click on a client to view detailed information or Search Clients by entering search terms.

2.6.Map Tab #

The Map tab contains an interactive map that shows the location and status of each job. Jobs that have not yet started display as red dots, jobs in progress are yellow dots, and jobs that are completed are green dots.

You can click on any dot to open detailed information about the job.

2.7.Finances Tab #

The Finances tab displays financial information for current and completed jobs. From this tab, you can generate invoices, receive payments, and view summary information such as invoiced amount, total sales, tax record, number of jobs completed.

3.General Operations #

The General Operations section covers functions of Cardinal that a regular (non-administrator) user will use. These operations cover such topics as:

  • Creating a new client
  • Creating a new job
  • Viewing detailed job information
  • Changing the status of a task
  • Generating an invoice
  • Accepting client payments

Note that certain functions will not be available to all roles within the company. For example, field crew can be restricted from viewing financial information or changing details of a job. Exactly what function is available to each role is determined during initial Cardinal setup so that it fits the needs of your company.

3.1.Accessing Cardinal #

Employee Login

  1. Open a web browser (Google Chrome is recommended), and in the address bar, enter the address to your cardinal site. This will open Cardinal to the login page.
  2. Enter user name and password, then press EMPLOYEE LOGIN to enter Cardinal.

Client Login

  1. Open a web browser (Google Chrome is recommended), and in the address bar, enter the address to the Cardinal site provided by the surveying company. This will open Cardinal to the login page.
  2. Find the invoice sent by the surveying company. Enter the email address shown on the invoice and invoice number, then press CLIENT LOGIN to enter Cardinal.

3.2.Create Item #

The Create Item button allows you to create three types of items:

  • Client
  • Job
  • Feedback to Cardinal developers

3.2.1.Create Client #

Create Client

The Create Client button will open a new window where you can enter new client details, such as name, contact information, and billing address. When you have entered the client information, you can either Save Client and return to the previous screen, or Save Client and Start a New Job to open the create job window .

3.2.2.Create Job #

The Create Job button will open a new window where you can enter new job details, such as client, parcel details (which can search uploaded parcel data), job due date, job manager, pre-assign employees to job stages, and job tasks. When you have entered the job information, click Save Job Entry.

3.2.3.Submit Feedback #

3.3.View Job Details #

With Cardinal, details are always only a click away. From the Overview, Job, Map, and Finances tabs and the client detail window, if you click on any job entry, the job details window will appear.

The job details window has the following tabs, displaying a wealth of information:

4.Job Progress Indicator #

Throughout Cardinal, the job progress indicator helps give you a quick visual on the progress of a job. Each stage of the job can have four statuses:

  • Unassigned – Grey
  • Assigned and Not Started – Red
  • Assigned and Started – Yellow
  • Assigned and Completed – Green
